Life Skills Program

Our Life Skills program serves individuals ages 15 and up.  To be considered for this program, the young adult must be able to participate in community activities and should require 1:1  teacher to student ratio.  The curriculum provides for daily living skills and social needs.

Initially, each young adult will be provided a Functional Behavior Assessment and Functional Communication evaluation and follow-up if warranted.  There is a daily structured schedule of activities which varies from day to day.  Activities include, but are not limited to:

Group Therapies

  • Music Therapy

  • Equitherapy

  • Art Therapy

Participation in Community Activities

  • Exercise with Troy Dorsey, World Champion Kickboxer and owner of Troy Dorsey’s Karate

  • Mansfield Activity Center –Gospel Singing with Senior Citizens

  • Crafts

  • Field Trips

 Life Skills Training

  • Daily hygiene

  • Daily church jobs

  • Shop for and prepare a meal

  • Personal laundry

  • Pre-vocational assembly jobs

  • Exercise daily and swimming weekly during the summer months

  • Weekly chapel with the Youth or Senior Minister of the Mansfield Church of Christ

An application form must be completed, and an interview with the Director and Supervisor will determine admittance to the program.

Tuition includes music therapy and activity fees. Equitherapy fee is paid directly to Wings of Hope.  If your young adult is being served by an HCS Medicaid waiver program, please contact us regarding the tuition.  These programs may help defray the cost of tuition.  Transportation is provided for all community activities and field trips.

Opportunities for these young adults are extremely limited.  Life Point provides an alternative for families seeking a “better life” for their young adult.

Space is limited, so contact us today to receive additional information or to schedule an appointment.
